51400 - Trauma/General Surgery - Nurse Manager, Level V

Responsibilities

Seeking a motivated candidate for the Nurse Manager position for Trauma/General Surgery unit with demonstrated leadership, clinical management skills as well as the desire to work collaboratively to promote change. This unit offers two levels of care; adult surgery floor level as well as trauma progressive care beds. The Nurse Manager is accountable for human resource, career development, recruitment and retention efforts, budget, and quality of care/patient outcomes. This individual will work in partnership with both the nursing director and the Trauma department to support program development to maintain relevance with the patient population served. Candidate is required to possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. MS degree preferred, 3-5 years experience required.

Qualifications

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Manager directs all aspects of patient care, which includes managing nursing personnel and material resources in a cost-effective manner, unit planning and the initiation of innovative clinical and management practices with emphasis on retention strategies.
