Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Work under the general direction of the Director of Division Operations and Program Administrator for the Department of Neurology, with independence and latitude to exercise judgment. Assist with all aspects of administration for the Strong Epilepsy Center and assure the unit has necessary support for all divisional activities. Maintain strong working relationships with all division faculty and department administrators as well as all hospital and medical school administrative staff.

Duties:

Manage administrative and financial activities for Epilepsy division. Responsibilities include budgets, financial analysis, program planning and development, facilities, and information systems. Develop monitor, and control the hospital and practice accounts. Prepare and administer the capital and operating budgets. Review monthly reports from Department and hospital to identify trends and explain variances.

Develop, interpret and track statistical measures and reports designed to monitor physician productivity. Review monthly reports for Department and Hospital to identify volume trends and address both positive and negative variances. Facilities administration of community based EEG and telemedicine contracts. Ensure proper payment for work undertaken.

In collaboration with Department HR specialist, provide guidance to faculty and staff on all aspects of personnel administration, including recruitment, hiring, supervision, performance evaluation, compensation, progressive discipline, termination, employee rights and privileges, sick leave and vacation, disability, and employee benefits. Monitor staff compensation levels on a continuing basis. Supervise office clerical staff assist with prioritization and workload allocation.

Supervise procurement/purchasing functions for all division accounts including reconciliation with University reports, problem resolution, and analysis of revenue and expense trends. Make recommendations to division faculty and staff regarding compliance with University policies and procedures of Finance, Accounting, and procurement.

Assist in facilities planning; in consultation with others, determines need for and recommends equipment and supplies. Coordinates space planning and space survey activities. Maintains UR space database on an ongoing basis. Participates in UR Space equipment survey. Ensures proper identification and location of all capital equipment within divisional space.

Participate in Medical Center, Department of Neurology, and Strong Health activities. Attends monthly Neurology administrator meetings, monthly clinical council meetings, routine Clinical staff meetings (FEBO). Meets regularly with division chief and department administrator. Performs other related administrative duties.

Qualification:

Graduation from college or an equivalent combination of experience and training AND three years relevant administrative experience; OR, 3 years of directly related administrative experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
