Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Functions as the Administrator for the management and oversight of all financial and operational functions at Sawgrass and Strong West Ambulatory Surgery Centers (The Surgery Centers). This position will be responsible for directing strategic business components and staff management for all departments. The Administrator will provide routine reports illustrating business growth and development. In addition the position where applicable is responsible for the management and reporting of finances.

Typical Duties:

Coordinates, directs and maintains the development oflnventory, Operational, and Financial reports for the Surgery Centers. Uses current OR management system, inventory management systems and other hospital/OR databases to provide in-depth analysis of Surgery Center operations. Maintains close contact with inventory users to understand workflow from product acquisition through the billing process and identify possible areas of improvement. Provide recommendations to the Program Administrator for issues identified. Primary contact for Perioperative Services capital procurement process. Identifies invoice, PO, and item file discrepancies. Generates timely/accurate standard and ad hoc reports for The Surgery Centers, including various committees. Assists in and directs in consultation with the Surgery Center Perioperative Leadership team the planning, development and implementation of Perioperative Services projects.

Collaborating with Perioperative Program Administrator and Surgery Center Perioperative Leadership, develops capital forecast/projection into the future to serve as a guide for capital equipment purchases. Serves on capital approval committee and coordinates capital acquisition process from quote generation through receiving and placement into use.

Supervises and directs staff in the areas of data management. Drives projects related to data analysis. Makes recommendations for hiring according to the University of Rochester Affirmative Action plan and goals. At least annually evaluates staff performance, determines disciplinary action, recommends promotions, salary adjustments and performs other related personnel actions. Coordinates with the Human Resources business partner for Perioperative Services and the Program Administrator on personnel issues. Establishes working relationships through positive communication and follow-up with nursing staff, medical staff and user departments.

Examines general ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy. Develops and analyzes pro­forma statements, assists in identifying area of operational improvement, presents recommendations for improvements, and seeks guidance as to the course of action to be taken.

Reviews accounting documents to ascertain that transactions are properly supported in accordance with University policy and procedures.

Partnering with Surgery Center Perioperative Leadership, coordinates activities surrounding process and throughput improvement, including but not limited to problem identification, solution identification, and implementation plans. Provides and maintains dashboard of key metrics and routine analysis to support the improvement of operational efficiency in the Surgery Centers.

Provides support to Perioperative Services Finance Administrator in budget control, statistical studies, billing issues, and other projects necessary for financial reporting, inventory management, workflow management, and utilization analysis. Develops and executes strategic business plans to meet Surgery Center strategic goals.

Oversees the Surgery Scheduling function and block scheduling process. Utilizing block utilization data, partners with Anesthesiology Chiefs to manage the block schedule for requests, changes, and deletions.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Willingness to take on additional responsibilities. Detail Oriented.
