University IT and the Center for Integrated Research Computing (CIRC) provide University-wide leadership for the extensive and diverse technology initiatives required by a leading research university. As the primary hub for IT programs and initiatives, this organization engages constituents University-wide to provide:

  • And, a collaborative and diverse team that creates integrated, secure and dependable IT systems and practices that support efficient and cost-effective distribution of information in support of University missions.

Summary of Role:

The University of Rochester is recruiting a Lead Analyst/Programmer. This person will provide technical expertise in the design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, maintenance, security, and delivery of Advancement applications for the University.

Primary Responsibilities:

15% - Perform program-level design activities (program flows, logic, file/database changes, etc). Independently create/participate in the creation of the system design specifications. Attend and lead system design reviews and code walkthroughs in different programming languages such as PL/SQL and/or .NET.

10% - Plan and lead Advancement projects, developing project plans and estimates. May coordinate the work of other Advancement support/development resources. May evaluate and recommend testing and evaluation of new procedures and software. Will create procedures and maintain application and system-related documents and programs.

10% - Perform analysis activities and independently create/participate in the creation of the functional specifications.

10% - Provide Consultation to the user community with a goal of understanding and documenting business requirements. Assist in the translation of the business requirements into configurable software components and rules or custom developed solutions.

10% - Understand Advancement / Fund Raising business processes as well as participate in process modeling for advancement discipline.

10% - Lead the design, development, testing and implementation of conversion and interface (including data warehouse) programs, enhancements or customizations, and web interfaces.

10% - Participate in the configuration and testing, including business rules, security and data validation rules. Execute unit tests. Work closely with application testers and user community on the preparation of test plans, test data, and integrated unit testing.

10% - Maintain a broad knowledge of technology, equipment, and/or systems. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Maintain a broad knowledge of the latest functionality associated with cloud-based applications such as Workday Studio, best practices, and trends of cloud computing.

10% - Participate in regularly occurring Oncall rotation. Skilled in correcting (and training for) technical problems that impact system/application performance. Take a lead role in troubleshooting and remediation of issues, including aiding in coordination of support from third party vendors and software companies; recommend assignment of tasks as needed.

5% - Prepare necessary paperwork and documentation to ensure conformance to departmental/corporate standards and procedures.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience in ERP or configurable software solution implementations

  • Experience in SQL and PL/SQL programming and shell scripting

  • Experience in .Net programming

  • Demonstrated experience working with intranet and web-based applications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Oracle on Unix DBMS and SQL Server environments

  • Experience with Workday Studio or SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle or other similar

  • Proficiency in the design, implementation and maintenance of Data Warehouse environments preferred

  • Ability to provide on-call support as required

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering, and 4 - 5 years of related experience, preferably 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Master’s degree preferred.
