Analyst/Programmer

GENERAL PURPOSE:
To support ongoing and future studies on human CNS disease by performing essential analysis tasks with data derived from microarray and high-throughput sequencing methodologies, implementing analysis workflows, managing data, presenting results, and providing input to investigators on statistical issues and experimental design. Supports other analyst(s) and works with other University groups/collaborators as appropriate for larger projects.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Works independently and takes technical initiative, to provide the following services:
Executes the analysis of bulk and single cell RNA-sequencing data to produce figures for publications and grants. 30%
Works collaboratively with lab scientists to interpret data and identify directions for future experiments. 30%
Establishes and maintains pipelines for the processing and alignment of high throughput sequencing data. 10%
Proactively seeks out and evaluates new software for the analysis of high throughput sequencing data. 10%
Keeps abreast of emerging relevant biology concepts. 10%
May coordinate the work of other analysts as assigned. 5%
Performs other related duties, including presentation of data analysis techniques and results as required. 5%
REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering, and 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong background in statistics required.
Experience and ability with working in different programming languages, such as R, C#, Python, etc. Experience with database systems such as MySQL and SQL Server. Ability to utilize different computing platforms, primarily Windows and Linux/UNIX. Knowledge and experience with high performance computing (cluster) environments preferred. Experience with building reusable and reproducible data analysis workflows also preferred.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 50,000 - $ 80,000 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
