The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester, NY is seeking a surgical pathologist. Candidates with subspecialty training in any of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: ENT, or breast/GYN. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the position will have an academic component, which may include translational research, or clinical research. Successful applicants must be board-eligible in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology and be eligible for a medical license in the State of New York. The anticipated rank is open, commensurate with experience.
The Surgical Pathology Division at the University of Rochester is a large one: its more than 30 faculty are responsible for approximately 95,000 cases annually, including those from the medical center’s flagship hospital, Strong Memorial Hospital, as well as four of its affiliates in the surrounding upstate NY region. The Division is completely subspecialized and is home to three departmental fellows.
The University of Rochester Medical Center is a highly collegial environment with many opportunities for collaboration particularly with investigators in the James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute. This is a very active oncologic service with expertise in many types of solid tumors. The successful candidate will actively participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of solid tumors. The Wilmot Cancer Institute also has a strong research program that promotes collaboration in basic, translational and clinical programs for investigators.
