Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor
The Wilmot Cancer Institute University of Rochester and Division on Hematology and Oncology is recruiting a physician researcher experienced in either clinical or basic investigation to develop and lead an expanding academic and clinical program in Head & Neck and Thoracic Medical Oncology. A generous gift from a prominent member of the community has created an endowed Professorship (to be named) that will support this position and development of a research program in Head & Neck cancer. The Division of Oncology and Hematology has a team of three Medical Oncologists, and is looking to recruit a fourth member, to provide clinical care in Head & Neck and Thoracic Oncology. The recruit would also be charged with leading this team and could maintain a clinical practice either exclusive to Head & Neck Oncology or across Head & Neck and Thoracic Oncology.
The key criteria for this position is a record of excellence and national prominence in research and preferably with a track record of NIH funding, and with a research focus and expertise that is applicable to Head & Neck cancer. All types of researchers will be considered including, but not limited to cancer genetics, basic cellular biology, tumor immunology, drug development, therapeutic clinical trials, epidemiology, outcomes research, and disparities in health care. This researcher will join a growing team of scientists and clinicians at the Wilmot Cancer Institute and a multidisciplinary clinical program consists of surgical, oncologic, radiation, imaging and pathology sub-specialists. The candidate must be committed to clinical excellence, research and teaching. The selected candidate will be expected to develop the research program and help to support an expanding the clinical trial portfolio. He/she will be required to mentor fellows, residents and medical students and work in a collaborative and diverse faculty environment. Significant programmatic and research support, including resources for further recruitment, will be provided.

THE WILMOT CANCER INSTITUTE:
The Wilmot Cancer Institute is named for James P. Wilmot, a prominent local businessman, philanthropist and leading member of the Rochester community. Established in 1974 as the University of Rochester Cancer Center, Wilmot Cancer Institute has its roots in an era that encouraged academic medical centers to bring their expertise in fields such as cancer to regional communities. The Wilmot Cancer Institute is the major resource for comprehensive cancer care, research, education and community outreach in Central New York State.
UR Medicine’s Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) features an 84-bed cancer center with 11 outpatient locations throughout the Rochester and Finger Lakes region. The facility provides fully integrated inpatient and outpatient clinical, clinical research and laboratory space for cancer. Wilmot, a component of Strong Memorial Hospital, offers patients and their families comprehensive services including one of upstate New York’s largest blood and marrow transplant programs and the Rochester area’s only ACOS- accredited breast cancer center. Wilmot is home to the region’s first survivorship clinic and offers clinical trials of new therapies and options that may not be available anywhere else upstate. WCI employs over 100 physicians providing oncology care, more than 200 registered nurses and nurse practitioners and a team of scientists who investigate many aspects of cancer, with an emphasis on how best to provide precision cancer care.
The Division of Hematology and Oncology:
The Wilmot Cancer Center's Division of Hematology/Oncology is a diverse, talented, and caring faculty of over 70 physicians, researchers, and fellows focused on patient care, education, and research.
The Wilmot Cancer Center's Division of Hematology/Oncology cares for and treats patients with cancers that affect blood-forming cells (e.g., leukemia, lymphoma) and solid tumors. At Strong Memorial Hospital and Wilmot Cancer Institute clinics across the region, division faculty provide top-notch care working alongside colleagues in surgery, radiation oncology, palliative care, pathology and many other specialties. Division doctors are leading the way, bringing new treatments to the clinic through clinical trials and leading others around the world in cancer research. Pay Range: $303,000 - $473,842 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
