Responsibilities
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is seeking a Division Chief and Medical Director of PM&R at Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH).
The Department of PM&R continues to track on a rapid faculty growth and clinical space expansion consisting of fruitful subspecialty trained faculty recruitments an already approved newly renovated acute inpatient subspecialty neurorehabilitation unit opening in 2023. We are seeking a Division Chief and Medical Director whose role is expected to provide leadership and direction of all our rehabilitation medicine faculty, staff and patient populations at SMH. We currently have a rapidly expanding acute floor consult service, manage 20 acute rehabilitation beds and are adding an additional 11 private brain injury rehabilitation beds next year. This position is expected to have a 0.6 clinical FTE(cFTE) and 0.2 admin/academic FTE housed at SMH and 0.2 cFTE housed at our outpatient clinic. This role carries with it the opportunity to pursue academic and scholarly activity interfacing collaboratively with the Dept. of PM&R’s Neurorestorative Institute as well as with the Dept. of Neurology/Neurosurgery Del Monte Neuroscience Institute.
Ideal candidates are BC with subspecialty rehabilitation medicine fellowship training as well as 5 years post-graduate experience with acute inpatient rehabilitation bed management. Strong applicants would possess a passion, enthusiasm and optimism for hospital-based PM&R as well as outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to develop relationships with referring services, namely neurology, neurosurgery, and surgery, will be a key to success. It is expected this individual has a keen interest in teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and medical students.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $170,416 - $346,177 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
