The Theoretical Division seeks a computational/theoretical plasma physicist at the Assistant Scientist level to carry out research in the area of laser-plasma interaction physics, with an emphasis on the numerical modeling of electron heat transport and stimulated scattering instabilities. Experience with Fokker-Planck stimulations would be an asset. In addition to a good understanding of laser-plasma interaction processes, the successful candidate should have the ability to work well with experimental data, have good interpersonal skills, a willingness to work in a team, and the ability to communicate well in writing. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a good record of publication in high impact peer reviewed journals. A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related area is required. Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The start date is July 2020. The position is for three years subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
