Faculty job description:
The University of Rochester Department of Urology is recruiting a Biomedical Engineer at the faculty rank of Assistant to work in our renowned simulation lab which provides a state-of-the-art platform for hands-on education. The candidate will actively be engaged in the development and instruction of novel techniques using fabricated models to allow trainees to learn and practice relevant anatomy and procedures in a risk-free environment.
This opportunity will allow the candidate to serve as an educator and mentor in simulation research, collaborating (and training) faculty, residents, and researchers. The Assistant will have significant experience in biomedical engineering research and development of surgical simulation models (fabrication, design, testing, prototyping).
Key responsibilities include:
Engineering simulation models used for curriculum
Planning and development of simulation-based curricula in collaboration with educators/clinicians
Promoting new/emerging technologies into coursework and training.
Deliver and lead simulation trainings; develop protocol for assessment of skills of trainees.
Dissemination of information to faculty, researchers, residents and students
Advise on short and long-term strategic and operational planning for simulation-based education
Serve as a leader and mentor amongst simulation team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in biomedical engineering Preferred: Master’s degree. 3 years of related work experience involving direct assistance to researchers; or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education. Significant lab experience in biomedical engineering research and development of simulation models and understanding of 3D printers.
Must be able to supervise others in a lab setting. Teaching experience required.
