The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking a Chief of the Division of Acute Care/Trauma Surgery to join the faculty at an Associate Professor level or above. The successful candidate will be an established, clinically active trauma surgeon, an exceptional academic physician-leader with proven values and skills needed to provide programmatic and academic leadership. The ideal candidate will be nationally recognized as a thought leader in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery and have a track record of success in clinical excellence, research and education. The Division currently consists of five faculty members with a scope of practice that provides total care for every aspect of injury, from prevention through rehabilitation. Strong Memorial Hospital is an 830-bed, ACS verified Level I Trauma Center providing service to approximately 2,000 trauma patients annually spanning across 14 counties. The Trauma Program is supported by a long-standing regional EMS ground and Air Transport system, 25-bed ICU, and full complement of trauma and administrative staff. In addition, the Division Chief will manage and foster a growing Acute Care Surgical Service at SMH providing emergency complex general surgical services to patients from throughout our region. .
