The University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a Rehabilitation Psychologist to provide assessment and treatment services to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, with an emphasis on treating the unique needs of a rehab population. The Psychologist should have specialty training in rehabilitation psychology, assessment, and have medical center/hospital, and/or interdisciplinary treatment team experience.
Primary responsibilities include active interdisciplinary team participation, and providing rehabilitation psychological services for rehab patients, which may include individual, group, and family therapy, assessments, consultations, and education. As faculty, the psychologist will also assume teaching and research roles, which include didactic courses and mentoring in research for medical students and residents. Program development opportunities focusing on a transitional outpatient therapy program for rehab patients are also offered.
The Psychology Service within PM&R consists of two other rehabilitation neuropsychologists and one psychometrist. The psychologist will be expected to work collaboratively within the service to support the needs of a rehab population adapting to medical illness, injury and/or disability. The patient population within the department includes a wide range of medical presentations, including persons with acquired brain injury/disease, spinal cord injury/disease, orthopedic injury, and cardiac conditions.
Requirements: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, an APA approved internship, and postdoctoral fellowship training in rehab psychology or related field. Board certification is not required, but board eligible candidates are strongly considered. New York State licensure is required. Interested candidates with other state licensure are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates that do not have formal rehab training, but who possess a strong background in interdisciplinary treatment team experience or who have a health psychology background may be considered.
