Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Business Analyst Lead provides leadership and expertise and works closely with their peer group, team leads, application build teams, and business, financial, operational, clinical and other stakeholders as designated to support their assigned project and/or peer group functions. The analyst lead develops requirements and design documentation along with use cases, based on user input. The lead analyst designs future state workflow and business processes, process analysis, and assists in creating testing strategies and offers input to their peer team that supports planning and implementation of new systems or functions to ensure they are delivered with quality. The lead analyst typically works independently and may provide direction to other analysts or project team members.

NOTE: This is a one-year end-dated position expected to last until one year from hire date

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project work / enhancements:

  • Works with user communities to document current state and future state process and conduct gap analysis for assigned projects. (15%)

  • Works with user communities to understand and document business requirements. May lead design sessions and designs complex enhancements fulfilling user requirements and goals. (15%)

  • Delivers assigned tasks in alignment with project plans and estimates. Leads or participates in project communications/meetings to promote and communicate project goals, timeframe and high-level changes. (10%)

  • Leads design reviews and code/configuration walkthroughs with technical, functional and/or vendor teams. (5%)

  • Works closely with Quality Assurance Analyst, and functional and technical testers to prepare test plans, test data and complete integrated testing. (5%)

  • Actively participates in, and sometimes leads, user events to promote and communicate project goals, timeframe and high-level changes and conduct training. (5%)

    Business Case / Process Mapping:

  • Leads business processes to identify needs, problems and opportunities, and develops strategies to maximize opportunities/value delivery.

  • Initiates with business leaders and users to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value.

  • Write and/or offers input to business cases for future potential projects.

  • Leads estimation and provides input for planning of future work with Manager/Assistant Director.

    General:

  • Leads or actively participates in retrospective events with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Leads and mentors the identification, recommendation and delivery of improvement opportunities for the business analysis and project processes.

  • Mentors and is a role model for the sharing of knowledge, provides cross-training, peer support and leads team meetings.

  • Participates effectively as a "Team Member".

  • Leads or serves on committees and meetings.

  • Develops, and reviews procedures for business analysis and project lifecycle processes with Manager.

  • Keeps current with business and strategic goals.

  • Understands other University service providers.

  • Develops and mentors a broad knowledge of University roles, processes, tools, and architecture to better understand how the team works together to meet users' needs.

  • Shares broad knowledge of related industry standards, best practices, regulations, and related technologies. Attends webinars, reads case studies and white papers, and participates in other free or low-cost opportunities to further refine skills and stays abreast of business analysis and project management topics.

  • Grows knowledge beyond area of responsibility into related areas business and systems

  • Participates in external communities of practice with a goal of gaining knowledge if assigned.

  • Initiates and/or actively participates in smaller projects/enhancements, delivering tasks in alignment with project plans and estimates.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Science or Engineering required;

  • Master’s Degree preferred

  • 4-5 years of related experience required;

  • or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience preferred.

  • 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity preferred;

  • Clinical or University experience preferred .

  • Excellent leadership, communication (verbal and written), presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills preferred

  • Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results preferred

  • Ability to distill technical information into succinct and digestible information for a broad (non-technical) audience preferred

  • Experience with project management from planning through implementation preferred

  • Extensive computer literacy to include experience in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Teams and Powerpoint) preferred

  • ServiceNow, JIRA and/or Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software experience preferred

  • Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or Professional Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) preferred
