Responsibilities
To provide E&M services to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with Inpatient Chronic Pain Service and Integrated Cancer Pain Service as well as outpatient Cancer Pain clinic at the Strong Memorial Hospital. Performs initial assessment, outlines treatment plans, coordinating any interventional procedures for these patients with the attending anesthesiologists. Maintains ongoing coordination with the surgical, orthopedic, pediatric, medical, and oncology services, in ensuring the appropriate care and pain management are undertaken. Also will assist with shared cross coverage with Pediatric Pain Service. Participates in QA and treatment-related research undertaken by Anesthesiology providers. Assists in providing education regarding pain management therapies to residents, nursing staff and medical students working with the Chronic Pain Inpatient and Integrated Cancer Pain Service.
Qualifications: Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The position influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Nurse Practitioner requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Physician Assistant requires completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant.
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner
Require a Master’s degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
Physician Assistant
Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA ( National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
