Full Time Temporary Position Until 12/18/21 Grade 074 Ctr Pediatric Biomed Research

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

To provide research support for research experiments conducted within the Center for Pediatric Biomedical Research. The experimental results achieved from this position will be utilized to better understand the ontogeny of the hematopoietic system in general, and the red blood cell lineage in particular. These experiments also will serve as an invaluable tool in the publication of papers in scientific journals and grant proposals.

Supervision:

This position reports to James Palis, M.D. This position requires that the individual will be able to conduct experiments under the supervision of Drs. Kathleen McGrath and Paul Kingsley, and Anne Koniski.

Responsibilities:

To provide technical support and execution of experiments to better understand the hematopoietic system.

Specific duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform cell culture of primary cells and cell lines including virus transduction.

  • Preparation of cells and staining for flow cytometry analysis. Compensate and analyze imaging flow cytometry data.

  • Other molecular and cell biology techniques: Enzyme-linked immunoassays (ELISA), western blotting, isolation of RNA and DNA, and PCR.

  • Completion of all training and safety courses. Adherence to all safety guidelines is required at all times.

  • General lab. Other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in regular lab meetings and journal club, including presentations of experimental plans and results.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an accredited program for a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.Computer skills including MS Word, Excel (required) and Photoshop. Weekend hours may be necessary.
