Responsibilities

General Purpose:

The Simulation Innovation Lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center creates physical surgical phantoms to train surgeons in a variety of specialties’ specific surgical procedures. Looking for creative, efficient, highly collaborative student interested in hands-on work and design of anatomic structures.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Create computer aided design of complicated biological structures. Design and 3D print plastic molds.

  • Use of Autodesk Meshmixer, SolidWorks.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain 3D printers to support demand.

  • Carry out fabrication of tissue mimicking phantoms.

  • Requires hands-on work and attention to detail.

  • Apply judgment in the application of new approaches and methods.

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited program for a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline required.

  • The work requires engineering competency with a thorough knowledge in related fields required.

  • The ideal candidate should have an interest in medical/surgical field and be open to a fast-paced, interdisciplinary work environment preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $15.00 - $25.96 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
