Decision Support Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for designing and implementing clinical and operational decision support solutions. These solutions range from simple reports and graphs to complex artificial intelligence, statistical analyses, and machine learning models. Provides data to support clinical, administrative, operational, and research requirements leveraging EHR and other reporting tools and datasets.
Serves as the Product Owner for the Clinical Quality Improvement Data Store and is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Agile Team. As a Product Owner, also accountable for effective Product Backlog management.
Also serves as the project support on multiple projects and completes required statuses of progress and updates related to supported projects and tasks. Willing to perform analysis and programming addressing challenging tasks supporting team processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
[15%] Data Preparation
Researches, analyzes, manipulates and supplies data to teammates and end users from various data sources including the EHR
Uses data reports to support data science efforts and data exploration efforts
Cleans and manipulates data into usable formats
Creates data marts and data warehouses to support advanced reporting scenarios
Links data from multiple sources and stores it in a format that is easy to query
Constructs and supports ETL processes to regularly populate data warehouses
[15%] Data Visualization and Report Generation
Creates data visualizations suited to particular audiences and tasks
Develops dashboards for self-service reporting with input from clinical stakeholders
Builds exploratory data solutions that allows users to explore the data themselves
[20%] Requirements Gathering
Works with the project director and end-users to understand project requirements
Uses in-depth technical knowledge to develop innovative design plans and presents them to the project director
Determines what capabilities are possible and within what time frame through experience and research
Compiles organized notes which can be shared with the team
[20%] Project Design
Independently researches and tests new reporting, visualization, and machine learning techniques
Determines what data will be necessary for a project and how to best obtain it and clean it
Determines the best format for users to consume the data (raw, tables, graphs, dashboards)
Analyzes how a new solution interacts with or enhances existing solutions and how future solutions may benefit from the design

Works with the CQI Data Store Agile team for effective Product Backlog management
Develops and explicitly communicates the Product Goal
Creates and clearly communicates Product Backlog items
[10%] Continuing Education
- Maintains current knowledge base and expertise relative to the technology and software used by related to the EHR and functional areas being supported
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required, and 3-4 years of related experience, preferably 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
Client and customer-facing experience preferred, specifically in designing analytical solutions in applied business contexts.
Experience using analytical tools such as R, Python or SAS and designing data visualizations using Tableau, Spotfire or PowerBI preferred.
Considerable experience with a relational DBMS such as Microsoft SQL or equivalent (Oracle, MySQL) preferred.
Exposure to an application programming language such as C#, Java, Python, or equivalent preferred.
Epic reporting and analytics certifications (Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, individual data models, etc.) preferred.
