University of Rochester Electronic Technician II (S) in Rochester, New York


Full Time 40 hours Grade 077 Clinical Engineering




Under full supervision of the Biomedical Team Leader with general direction and latitude for initiative and judgment, performs routine and non-routine duties related to the establishment and maintenance of basic to medium complexity medical device inspections and repair. Coordinates with the biomedical technicians the ordering, receipt, and distribution of repair components required for the service of medical equipment. Occasionally act as purchasing clerk ordering spare parts and supplies for department during vacation or absence.


Performs safety/preventive maintenance inspections on basic to medium complexity electronic and electromechanical biomedical equipment, to determine operational status and compliance with manufacturers and industry technical standards and specifications.

Maintains and calibrates basic to medium complexity electronic and electromechanical biomedical equipment according to manufacturer's specifications.

Troubleshoots, isolates equipment malfunctions and repairs basic to medium complexity electronic and electromechanical biomedical equipment.

Monitor minimum inventory levels for automated restock reports. Conduct periodic inventory of stock items and routinely place orders to ensure minimum levels are maintained

Maintains electronic medical equipment management database files for compliance with departmental and accreditation requirements.

Provide absence/vacation coverage for finance clerk and clerical staff to ensure seamless packing list/invoice matching and phone coverage for work order dispatch

Administrative duties related to training, documentation, etc .

  • AAS degree in electronics technology with emphasis on Biomedical Engineering Technology a plus two years electromechanical repair experience with demonstrated ability to work with limited direction.
  • Experience in healthcare and technology fields a plus
  • Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of wide variety of hand tools and electronics test equipment
  • Must be Computer literate and able to learn variety of database and purchasing software programs
  • Working knowledge of wide variety of electronic and mechanical parts terminology
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be able to prioritize work to meet customers' needs
