Position Summary:

Event and Student Engagement Coordinator must be high energy, creative, forward-thinking, solutions oriented, and committed to an integrated team approach. Under direction of the Director, Event and Student Engagement Coordinator is responsible for creating, organizing, and implementing all events bringing awareness to the Center for Education Abroad. Coordinator must possess and exhibit passion for engaging with students. This position will work closely with students to gather useful feedback by hosting focus groups and conducting evaluations.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary. The Coordinator will establish and maintain effective partnerships with student leaders, clubs, organization program advisors, and Residential Life staff to identify ways to deliver programming relating to opportunities abroad. The Coordinator will use data from focus groups and surveys to support and inform CEA mission, goals, and vision. Strong written skills are required for all content in marketing materials, social media, office website, and publications.


Event and Program Planning

  • Develop, coordinate, & execute promotional activities, events, and programs (CEA fair, info sessions, pre-departure, info tables, re-entry, open house, etc.); create processes, track student/staff participation, organize room reservations and support needs; innovative outreach, and recruitment all to support the office mission, vision, and goals.

  • Create and manage event calendar

  • Oversee event projects and marketing content by students and peer advisors

  • Conduct classroom visits to promote programs

  • Manage Photo Contest; in collaboration with Global engagement and Inernational Services Offices

Student Engagement

  • Organize focus groups; prepare, disseminate, and analyze programs, events, activities, and office evaluations/surveys. Provide feedback to the team on trends, student interest, awareness, myths, etc. Identify and recommend new opportunities that will enhance student awareness and engagement.

  • Oversee and recruit CEA ambassadors


  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase awareness to education abroad opportunities.

  • Ordering of office brand supplies, promotional material for programs, university posters

  • Correspond with faculty and university administrators, advisors, and others as it relates to marketing needs

  • Responsible for the oversight of the creation of marking materials for events and programming

Social Media & Photo Contest

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and promote all Education Abroad social media platforms to ensure a strong social media presence. (Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite, lnstagram):

  • Manage Photo Contest - Requesting pictures, blogs, and media from education abroad students for our website and advertising purposes.

Communication and Outreach Related Projects

  • Manage and prepare content for office website, testimonials, office guide, handbooks, marketing materials within targeted group, and submissions for students and parents - Parents Buzz, Rochester ready, KEARNS newsletter marketing material, and website

  • Presentations on student engagement, activity, feedback; provide guidance on how we can best support students


  • Excellent written, oral, editing, & communication skills; strong presentation/facilitation skills.

  • Competent in Micro soft suite (power point, excel, word...)

  • 1-3 years' experience working in an office that includes student activity planning/coordinating

  • Familiarity with and competence working with cross functional teams and independently

  • Administration, organizational, and project management skills with a strong attention to detail

  • A commitment and sensitivity to the importance of diversity and creating a safe, affirming, and inclusive environment.

  • Proven ability in managing multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment

  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.

  • Grant Writing a plus
