Under the direction of the Event Support Manager, the Event Support Technician is responsible for the safe and appropriate setup, operation, and teardown of technical event equipment, including professional grade audio consoles and PA systems, theatrical lighting consoles and fixtures, and projection equipment, in support of events on The River Campus. The successful candidate for this position is experienced in providing audiovisual services for live events, and has a focus on customer service, and the ability to operate in a team setting with a largely undergraduate student staff. Beyond the servicing of events, the Event Support Technician is also responsible for maintenance of equipment, training of staff, and providing additional assistance to the overall ECM Event Support operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Knowledge and Equipment Operation:

  • Responsible for safe, accurate, and efficient setup/teardown of equipment and furniture, according to prescribed methods, and job-specific instructions, in all River Campus locations

  • Operates audio, lighting, projection, and all other related equipment as prescribed for the event, with minimal oversight

  • Understands intermediate troubleshooting concepts, and can apply them quickly to resolve technical issues as they arise

  • Ensures that equipment is operated in such a way as to prevent damage, and is returned to proper storage locations at the completion of events.

  • Able to perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment under the direction of the Event Support Manager

  • Able to train others on the proper operation of equipment and venues

  • Observes and demonstrates all appropriate safety measures at all times

Customer Service:

  • Always provides excellent customer service to clients on job sites

  • Maintains a positive, professional attitude and appearance with all parties involved in events

  • Meets with clients at the beginning of events and checks in as necessary to ensure a positive outcome

  • Works with other members of the team (including full-time, part-time, and student staff members) in a professional and appropriate manner to achieve successful technical execution of events

Additional Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing audiovisual support to live events

  • Basic proficiency in modern computer programs (Microsoft office, Google Apps etc.)

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Must have a reliable cell phone for occasional calls and texts while on the job

  • Ability to accommodate a work schedule that may include significant evening and weekend hours

  • Assist the Event Support team with office work, as needed, including scheduling, organization, training, and other related tasks
