The University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) has an exciting opportunity that will allow you to put these skills to use! Our experiment operations team is looking for a Film Processing Technician. The Film Processing Technician supports LLE's operations by maintaining equipment and loading/unloading x-ray film used in nuclear physics experiments.
For more than 50 years the University’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) has been a leader in innovation and technology. The research performed at LLE has led to breakthroughs in electro-optics, plasma physics and nuclear fusion technology! This is a great opportunity to join our team!
Responsibilities:
Loading/unload X-Ray film and image plate cartridges used in nuclear physics experiments.
Processing photographic film and image plate.
Maintaining film processing equipment and chemistry
Troubleshooting equipment issues.
Qualifying as a NYS Radiation Worker
Maintaining radiological containment areas
Creating and updating system documentation and procedures
The successful candidate will:
Have darkroom/film development experience
Have experience with automated photographic film processors and/or image plate scanners
Have experience with chemistry operations
Have worked with radiological materials
Be proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn additional software

Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong interpersonal skills suitable for working in a team-based environment
Availability to work mornings (7am or 830am start) and evening shifts (1pm start)
Qualifications:
HS diploma required
Have the ability to obtain a security clearance
