Financial Analyst

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Conducts specialized and highly complex analysis of financial data in support of the various University Finance functions. Identify and research material variances by working with University and related entity personnel. Reviews and evaluates University accounting policies and procedures for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducts specialized financial analysis and research on subjects such as rate of return, depreciation, working capital, financial and expense performance comparison.

  2. Compiles and or prepares reports, graphs and charts of data analyzed. Makes presentations on areas of research or analysis. Prepares conclusions, forecasts and makes recommendations based on research.

  3. Analyzes and interprets data, statistics and financial information and identifies significant differences in relationships among sources of information.

  4. Assists in the development and/or modification of Finance policies and procedures.

  5. Keeps abreast of trends as they relate to financial management and adapts new developments into planning, control and analytical processes.

  6. As assigned, assumes responsibility for special projects involving research, planning and recommending changes. Assumes responsibility for the project, establishes time tables, activity plans and coordinates the efforts of any subordinate staff.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required; Master's degree preferred. 4 years of related experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision preferred. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 58,800 - $ 82,300 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
