Histology Technician

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Full-time Mohs histology technician job available. The person hired for this position will work with Mohs surgeons at two locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently embed, section, stain, and cover-slip tissue specimens

  • Independently troubleshoot technical issues with tissue processing and equipment function

  • Process tissue from special sites including eyelids, cartilage, and mucosal sites

  • Perform immunostains for complex tumors (on-the-job training available)

  • Independently operate Mohs equipment including cryostat, automatic stainer, and processing chemicals/supplies

  • Perform quality control of equipment

  • Manage chemical storage and management

  • Maintain records of processed tissue and assist with storage of specimens

  • Assist with lab certification processes

  • Collaborate with Mohs surgeon to provide excellent care for patients

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AAS degree required

  • Previous experience as a histology technician preferred

  • Anatomy, histology, chemistry preferred

  • NYS HT license required. NYS MT or MLT accepted

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Desire for fast-paced work environment

  • Time-management skills

  • Good communication with team members

  • Respectful, professional attitude towards team members and patients

Pay Range

Pay Range: $30.33 - $42.47 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
