Full Time 40 hours Grade 000 Department of Family Medicine

The University of Rochester Department of Family Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Family Physician with Maternity Care and Obstetrics experience. Join our group of 8 residency-based family physicians who deliver babies alongside 5 family physicians in community practice. Two family physicians are fellowship-trained and provide Cesarean sections and backup to our group. Additional backup is provided by our OBGYN colleagues with whom we have a very collaborative relationship. Our program provides one of the more robust OB experiences in the Northeast for our 12-12-12 residency program. Highland Hospital delivers approximately 3000 babies per year and has historically had an impressively low 20% Cesarean rate. Our longstanding Surgical Obstetrics fellowship is expanding from 2 to 4 fellows per year with a new emphasis on training physicians for rural practice funded by our recent HRSA grant.

The responsibilities of this position will include inpatient and outpatient obstetrical management for a high-risk patient population; surgical obstetrics; ultrasound and ultrasound guided procedures; and teaching of family medicine fellows, residents and medical students. S trong research support for interested candidates is available. Candidate must have an MD/DO or equivalent degree with board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine and additional fellowship training in surgical obstetrics. The applicant must be eligible for a NY state license. A post-offer health assessment and drug testing is required to be performed on-site.

The University of Rochester Department of Family Medicine (URMC) is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian, and nonprofit university. It forms the centerpiece of the University of Rochester’s health research, teaching and patient care missions. We have a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff, all committed to the University’s motto of “Meliora” – Ever Better.
