Position Summary

The Integrative Oncology Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing a program which provides integrative oncology services for adult patients and their families at the Wilmot Cancer Institute. Responsibilities will focus on conducting consultative services with prospective patients as well as the management of day-to-day operations of the Center. The Integrative Oncology Coordinator will also serve as chairperson of the Integrative Oncology Committee and function as a liaison with health and complementary service providers throughout the medical center and community. Day and evening hours are required.

Supervision/Direction Received

Supervision from the Administrator.

Coordination

50% In collaboration with medical care team and survivorship program staff, provide Integrative Oncology consultations to patients. This includes reviewing their symptoms and oncology history to provide an Integrative care plan with the goal of helping to manage symptoms and increasing quality of life. Consultations and integrative care plans will be documented in the patient’s electronic medical record to ensure that integrative oncology care plans are an integral part of the patient’s care team.

15% Hires, supervises and evaluates providers of all Integrative Oncology modalities including; the Massage Therapy Program at all locations, acupuncture, Qi Gong & Yoga Classes, Cooking for Wellness Classes, Chef Demonstration Classes and the Integrative Oncology lecture series, in collaboration with the Pluta Foundation, Gilda’s Club, and other community service providers as applicable. Provides administrative supervision in collaboration with licensed massage therapy clinical supervisor to assigned licensed massage therapy staff. Conducts annual performance evaluations and competency evaluations on all Integrative Oncology therapy staff, and monitors their professional practice. Oversees URMC credentialing for all therapists. Responsible for hiring, training and supervising a program manager/scheduler for the IO Center.

15% Responsible for the oversight of all program activities associated with program administration, budget, stakeholder relationship building, program coordination and evaluation. In collaboration with the Pluta Family Foundation, develops and manages the annual budget for the Integrative Oncology Center.

5% Benchmarking and research to coordinate and develop a model of integrative oncology services for the Wilmot Cancer Institute. Implementation of model in coordination with all stakeholders. Continued benchmarking of new ideas and modalities in use and proposed throughout the Integrative Oncology field. Works to implement activities necessary to support objectives for the provision of integrative oncology services.

5% Function as chairperson of the Integrative Oncology Committee. Serves as the liaison between SMH and all Wilmot Cancer Institute locations on all integrative oncology program matters including coordination and education of cancer center staff. Works closely with the medical directors/consultants to ensure services and program are aligned with mission and vision.

5% Coordinates a strong presence in the community through marketing, website and social media. Serves as community resource consultant to patients, families and staff.

5% Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Graduation from college or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 3 years of related work experience including at least 1 year in an administrative capacity in an academic office or project management, or the equivalent experience in business.

Experience and/or a degree in a clinical health related field such as nursing or social work is strongly preferred.
