Investment Analyst

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Analytically supports the University's Investment Officers, in a generalist structure and has responsibility for initial and ongoing evaluation of the investment firms responsible for managing the University's Long Term Investment Pool (LTIP). (Investment firms manage public equities, bonds, hedge funds, private equity, real estate and natural resources, across the globe).
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collects, assembles and deposits investment reports into the central electronic databases for access necessary for historical research and various compliance filing, assuring that the data is accurate.
Actively participates in the evaluation of current and potential investment managers by applying analytical and communicative tools to conduct initial evaluation of investment managers' goals, methods, ethics, decision making, and past portfolio results.
Regularly communicates analysis as appropriate via conference calls and meetings with investment officers and/or external investment managers. Prepares and maintains meeting minutes and notes as directed by leadership.
Independently applies technical knowledge to review for accuracy and relevance, corporate, economic and financial materials to support Investment Officers.
Creates and maintains financial models related to target investments for portfolios, identifying applicable market trends and recommending diversification adjustments.
Contributes aggregated analysis and applicable recommendations in the preparation of Investment Committee meeting materials.
Assists the investment team in operational due diligence of prospective fund managers.
Analyzes, reviews and prepares for the Investment Office daily economic data releases, debt and equity market trends and relevant geopolitical news to enable portfolio managers to make active or reactive investment decisions.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, accounting, economics or business administration required. 3 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, investment banking or investment management preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
