IT Business Analyst II

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The IT Business Analyst II works closely in collaboration with team leads, application build teams and business, financial, operational, clinical and other stakeholders as designated to support their assigned projects. Interacts with multiple disciplines of the Medical Center and external customers to ensure integration needs are met. Primary responsibilities include translating integration data requirements between the vendor specifications, requester, and ISD to characterize the business or clinical problem, categorize the request, state business or clinical objectives, record timing requirements, and identify deliverables. Other responsibilities include clarification of needs as development proceeds, providing a quality assurance checkpoint for deliverables, and assisting the requester with deliverable validation. Reports to and takes direction from the Integration Business Analyst Lead.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes and clarifies clinical, financial, and other business requirements related to requests for interfaces through the interface engine or direct integration between applications, and documents requirements. Investigates options, solutions, and alternatives.Works with user communities to understand and document business requirements for assigned projects. Writes and maintains business logic documents with minimal guidance.

  • Engages with business leaders and users to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value. Participates in estimation and provides input for planning of future work with Project Management Office.

  • Delivers assigned tasks in alignment with project plans and estimates. Participates in project communications/meetings to promote and communicate project goals, timeframe and high-level changes. Works with the requester to perform workflow and user-oriented analysis to ensure the integration deliverable fits the project objectives and success criteria. Assesses system resources, previous integration work products, internal standards, and external research to guide decision-making

  • Participates in, and may be asked to lead, design reviews and code/configuration walkthroughs with technical, functional and/or vendor teams. Supports Application Integration Developer team members by providing analysis of interface messages, regulations, and workflows related to integration projects.Fulfills interface changes and activities of low to medium complexity with minimal supervision.

  • Participates in, and may be asked to lead, retrospective events with a continuous improvement mindset. Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities. Shares knowledge, provides cross-training, peer support.

  • Keeps current with business and strategic goals. Understands other University service providers. Develops and maintains a broad knowledge of University roles, processes, tools and architecture to better understand how the team works together to meet users' needs. Develops a broad knowledge of related industry standards, best practices, regulations, and related technologies.

  • Participates in, and may be asked to lead, smaller projects/enhancements, delivering tasks in alignment with project plans and estimates.

  • Works closely with functional and technical testers to prepare test plans, test scenarios and test data to complete testing and business process validation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Science or Engineering required

  • 3 years of relevant experience such as supporting interface engines or database software required

  • or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience required.

  • Experience in a healthcare field preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills required

  • Strong attention to detail, analysis, and documentation skills preferred

  • Experience with Epic Bridges, Rhapsody or other integration platforms preferred

  • Experience with healthcare messaging protocols: HL7 v2, HL7 v3 CDA, HL7 FHIR, X12 preferred

  • Epic Bridges Certification preferred

  • Rhapsody Associates Certification preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $62,200 - $93,300 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
