IT Business Relationship Mgr

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The IT Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is a member of a cross-functional team where teamwork, collaboration, balancing competing priorities and continuous learning are the norm. The BRM will serve as a partner and trusted advisor to operational leaders within the University, understanding goals, challenges and requirements. Identifies opportunities for leveraging technology to drive business value and to bridge the gap between IT and the business by engaging with customer stakeholders and working collaboratively with IT leadership, program management and application build teams. The BRM utilizes communication skills and incorporates change management and change readiness into day-to-day problem solving, reducing business and IT obstacles to successful integration.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Builds and maintains strong relationships with business unit leaders and key stakeholders. Acts as a liaison between IT and the business. Fosters effective communication, collaboration and alignment between IT and business objectives. Conducts thorough analysis and assessment of business unit needs, objectives and priorities. Understands business processes, workflows and pain points to identify IT solutions that can support and enhance business operations.

  2. Collaborates with business units to identify IT services and solutions that align with needs and objectives. Ensures IT services are designed and delivered to meet the specific requirements of the business and actively communicates IT capabilities to stakeholders. Partners with IT technology teams to facilitate interpretation of business needs to technology requirements.

  3. Collaborates with Operational Leaders, IT Leaders and Project Managers to support change management activities. Works as a member of program leadership team, ensuring change management strategy is at the forefront of project activities and impact to stakeholders is continually evaluated and acted upon to minimize stakeholder resistance. Builds and leads a sponsorship coalition to support change activities, including the executive sponsors, leaders/managers, designated project champions and stakeholders.

  4. Communicates with business leadership to evaluate joint initiatives and proposals to determine alignment with established roadmaps and business priorities. Identifies business value when developing ideas, focusing on digital awareness, risk assessment, business continuity and business capability requirements. Tracks and measures the value delivered by IT to the business, communicating value to business stakeholders.

  5. Keeps abreast of industry standards, practices and new technologies to enhance key stakeholder satisfaction with Information Technology Services.

  6. Serves as an active member of the Management team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering or related field required. 13 years of relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience in an academic medical center or health-system preferred. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to demonstrate objectivity, sensitivity and a balanced perspective regarding employee concerns and organizational issues; Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create clear, concise and prompt communications; Ability to diffuse difficult situations; Strong follow-through skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously; Ability to contribute both individually and provide technical leadership as part of a team; Ability to positively influence others and to break down organizational silos; Strong understanding of IT and its relationship with common business functions.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 95,300 - $143,000 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
