Responsibilities

POSITION SUMARY :

Under the supervision of the Surgical Pathology Supervisor, the Clinical Laboratory Support Tech Supervisor will perform pre and post analytical support activities to the Histology laboratory. This position will focus on activities associated with whole slide imaging of microscopic pathology slides into a digital storage library. This position will also be expected to cross train in other areas of the surgical pathology laboratory that includes slide distribution and equipment maintenance.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED:

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Support Tech Supervisor and the Surgical Pathology Supervisor, but may receive direction from other technical supervisors in Surgical Pathology.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Standard office equipment such as telephone, PCs, Laboratory Information System (LIS), Hospital Information Systems, Microsoft Office. Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as stainer, cover slipper, chemical reagents, glassware, measuring devices and other equipment similar in scope and complexity.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Organizes and triages slides to that are being digitize using a whole slide scanner and associated software, including documentation in the LIS. 6 0%

  2. Maintains daily, weekly, monthly maintenance of H&E stainers, tissue processors, and digital slide scanner. 10 %

  3. Assists in record-keeping related to temperature monitoring, maintenance, and inventory. 10%

  4. Assists in support duties in other areas of surgical pathology as needed. 10%

  5. Maintains tissue blocks files when necessary. 5%

  6. Performs other activities as requested. 5%

REQUIREMENTS :

Associate degree in a related science with course work in Anatomy, and Physiology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Laboratory experience is preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $19.50 - $25.35 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
