Lab Clinical Support Tech III

Responsibilities

Position Summary :

With general direction and supervision, supports the daily operations of the Histology Laboratory. As part of a team manages tissue processor maintenance, slide stainer maintenance, slide distribution, and assists in managing the supply inventory. Performs some clerical functions such as printing and collating reports, filing and scanning into the LIS system. General knowledge of human anatomy helpful. May be trained to support other areas in the Surgical Pathology Department as needed. Ability to lift 25lbs required.

Duties:

  1. Manage machine maintenance for tissue processors and routine slide stainer. 50%

  2. Triage slides to proper pathologist based upon sign out schedule. 25%

  3. Prints, scans and files paperwork as instructed. 15%

  4. Monitors inventory of items and alerts supervisor to needs. Unpack and stock inventory as it arrives. 5%

  5. Other duties as assigned. 5%

Reports to: Histology Supervisor

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree or some college level course work in science or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, experience or certification. Customer service or medical office experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and Office computer applications a plus.
