The Lactation Medicine division of the University of Rochester Medical Center is an innovative service offering care across the clinical spectrum in collaboration with lactation consultants with significant experience in high-risk infants. The University of Rochester, located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, is a major research university and teaching hospital. Thus the candidate will be expected to participate in teaching. As an historical and dynamic leader in the field, the University of Rochester desires to hire a candidate with sound clinical knowledge, evidence-based practice, and energy and enthusiasm to serve this community. Though research is not required, applicants should be open to a research environment; the Lactation Research Consortium at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) encourages participation, and funding opportunities exist across the University. An ideal candidate will have experience with and enthusiasm for continuous quality improvement for breastfeeding and/or program development. We are seeking a part-time licensed NP or PA with training and experience in advanced lactation management to join our group. This person will be responsible for seeing patients for consults in the inpatient and outpatient departments and collaborating with other lactation medicine colleagues and lactation consultants. They will have a specific focus on quality improvement, especially inpatient. Minimum requirements: Licensed NP or PA, DNP Preferred; training and experience in lactation management; IBCLC or IBCLC-eligible in the next 1 year.
Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
