Mail Services Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY:
Receives, sorts, routes mail; and performs all functions relating to the University community bulk mail operation.
SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:
None. May assist in training of new staff.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Scales, meters, machines for bundle tying, stamping, addressing, inserting and folding; and computer terminal.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Receives, sorts and routes all types of mail including mail which requires some interpretation of location, recipient and postal class; records and signs for packages.
Makes searches to determine proper receiving office and forwards or returns to sender in accordance with pre-determined instructions or own judgment.
Records postage due and business reply mail on appropriate logs.
Weighs, presorts and applies postage on all University out-going mail. Sorts by zip code on bulk mailings.
Sets up, makes minor adjustments and operates all mailroom equipment necessary to complete tasks.
Sorts and processes University interdepartmental mail.
Loads mail bags and handles materials required to complete tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma and 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 15.00 - $ 19.86 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
