Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Technologist is responsible for training of Automated Laboratory technologists on new methods/instruments, coordinating and documenting safety and quality assurance procedures carried out in the Automated Laboratory, and for participating in the development, maintenance and troubleshooting of methods/instruments. They are also responsible for the performance of all the duties of a Clinical Technologist IV as needed.

Supervision and Direction Received: Under supervision of the laboratory section Supervisor(s)/Director.

Supervision and Direction Exercised:May be responsible for designated laboratory section staff or shift/weekend supervision, or others as assigned.

Machines and Equipment Used:Standard office equipment such as telephone, calculator, copier, printer, fax machine, and the like. Operates standard laboratory instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the Development of new methods/procedures.

  • Trains other technologists on new laboratory

  • Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of the laboratory methods/instruments.

  • Coordinates and documents safety procedures for the Automated

  • Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist IV.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be NYS licensed as a Clincial Laboratory Technologust

  • MS in Clinical Chemistry, Medical Technology or equivalent and at least 4 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

  • BS in Medical Technology and at least 6 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology and at least 7 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

  • AAS with a total of 90 credit hours (per NYS distribution requirements) and at least 7 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
