Responsibilities

UR Medicine Pharmacy is seeking Medication Access Specialists for the Specialty Pharmacy program. The Medication Access Specialist holds a special place on our Specialty team, ensuring that patients have access to high-cost specialty medications they couldn’t receive elsewhere.

The Specialty Pharmacy is a team of experts who create medicines that are typically not available at your local drug store. The Specialty team works closely with doctors, insurance providers and patient care teams to ensure that medications are available, safe and affordable.

  • The Medication Access Specialists work offsite, in a call center environment. Their office is located at 120 Corporate Woods, Rochester, NY 14623 (Brighton/Henrietta area)

  • Current openings offer a Full-Time, day shift schedule of 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, -F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm)

What does a Medication Access Specialist do?

Medication access specialists (MAS) work closely with pharmacists to connect patients to the resources they need to obtain and pay for specialty medications at an affordable cost. MAS speak to patients on the phone or through MyChart to help with insurance, copay costs, refills and deliveries. Medication Access Specialists spend most of their time obtaining authorization from insurance providers for these specialty medications.

Medication Access Specialist Requirements :

  • A High School diploma or equivalent

  • Pharmacy experience is not required but is welcomed

  • For those without Pharmacy experience, we require 3-5 years of experience in a medical office setting, or in an office coordinator or call center role
