The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry solicits applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in our research division. We are seeking candidates studying the basic biology or pathophysiology of the visual system. Outstanding scientists who use advanced large-scale molecular approaches (e.g. genetics/genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, metabolomics) to probe ocular biology and disease are encouraged to apply. A strategic goal of the Flaum Eye Institute is to develop and apply innovative techniques to study the structure and function of healthy and diseased eyes, and to restore or improve vision. Our active faculty group conducts research using a variety of models to understand ocular physiology and pathophysiology, including using multiple in vivo model systems and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPCS) technology. Among the many strengths of the Flaum Eye Institute is the presence of high-resolution, in vivo, adaptive optics retinal imaging, retinal genetics and stem cell research, as well as expertise with psychophysical approaches to measure and retrain visual function in both humans and animal models.
