Responsibilities

General Purpose:

Independently produces all manner of custom and prefabricated prosthetic and orthotic devices. Performs independent assignments involving sequences of related operations. Usually works in accordance with standard operating procedures and practices. Exercises a high degree of judgment and skill.

Typical Duties:

Independently produces prosthetic and orthotic devices by rectifying models, determining anatomical joint centers of rotations, selecting appropriate materials based on properties to incorporate into device, manipulating/creating materials to conform to rectified model.

Determines and incorporates both normal and pathological biomechanical alignment in order to prepare for donning.

Selects appropriate materials and components based on patient criteria and knowledge of material science in order to ensure optimum strength, durability and function.

Evaluates a device to identify deviations from prescribed standards by inspection in order to correct impaired fit and function.

Other duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

Associate’s degree in related field; 3 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. American Board certified Orthotic/prosthetic Technician preferred.
