Responsibilities

General Purpose:

In addition to Outpatient Access Associate duties, coordinates functions associated with patient information processing for ambulatory care visits and acts as a resource to staff performing those functions. Monitors and assures that nil functions are completed in an accurate, efficient, and customer friendly manner. Is proficient at use of eRecord system and is a resource to new staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties of Outpatient Access Associate as required by departmental needs. Achieves and maintains proficiency in provision of excellent customer service, accuracy of data, and efficiency of work.

  • Performance analysis: Coordinates daily efforts to edit and correct registration and billing errors, monitors charge entry and reconciliation of area charges, ensures accuracy of patient schedules.

  • Training: Provides training to other clerical staff on all aspects of department-specific work, including orientation to registration, charge entry, and customer service. Acts as information resource for all Departmental staff in regards to registration and billing activities. Attends educational programs for department at direction of supervisor and teaches other staff.

  • Appointment scheduling: Maintains and updates appointment scheduling resources, reports to supervisor suggestions for increasing efficiency, coordinates multiple schedules and monitors for changes in availability and overbooking, and coordinates and schedules procedures and tests.

  • Customer interaction: Check-in patients for their appointments. Answer all incoming calls and transfers. Serves as a focal point for handling complaints, utilizes service recovery concepts, and serves as front-line problem solver.

  • Travel required 1-2 times a month to Regional clinic. Responsible for checking patients in/out; updating demographic and insurance information in an efficient, customer-oriented manner, asks specific questions of patient to verify information accuracy in order to establish a billable account. Enters information into the electronic medical record and patient access and revenue cycle system. Requests patient e-mail address for confirmation purposes. Assures completion of all appropriate forms by patients, such as, Medicare Secondary Payer assurance, provision of HIPAA information for new patients, requesting patient identification to verify identity, provision of Financial Assistance Program, etc.

  • Manages multiple processes in eRecord including messaging in eRecord In Basket and referral work queue processing. This information is part of the patient legal medical record, therefore, assures accurate and concise information is entered.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Medical terminology experience preferred, ability to process documents and enter data into a database preferred.

  • Ability to act as a resource to less experienced staff preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $17.47 - $23.58 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
