Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Market Access Manager will be a pharmacist member of the Ambulatory Pharmacy team with the responsibility for marketing specialty capabilities and services to key payer customers including Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Health Plans, Third Party Administrator (TPA’s), Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN’s), and other government and commercial payers. The Market Access Manager will track and monitor specialty medications that are in the pipline and also work with Pharma for access to limited distribution medications.This position will also participate in special projects as assigned by the Associate and Assistant Directors.

The Market Access Manager will serve as the liaison for clients within the department of pharmacy. As a seasoned healthcare professional, this position will use expertise to grow the business through renewal, retention, and up-sell of existing clients. The Market Access Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy.

This position will work with the various other pharmacy team members, to provide strategic vision. This position is an independently functioning individual with knowledge in the pharmaceutical market and the operations of specialty pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth Management

  • Work with senior leadership to provide strategic vision to the organization related to specialty pharmacy medication access and payer strategy

  • Focus on high client satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Identify payer customers to engage and partner with on projects in a geographic area

  • Perform market research and analysis to assist in the development of sales strategy plan

  • Propose other opportunities for growth in relation to payers and medication manufacturers

Relationship Management

  • Establishes and maintains productive, professional relationships with all associated parties. Responsible for leading RFP payer responses and coordinating with all appropriate departments for input and approval

  • Coordinates the involvement of personnel, including support, service, and management resources, to meet identified performance objectives and expectations

  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates business needs on an ongoing basis

  • Conducts regularly scheduled review meetings and presentations for key decision makers

Project Work

  • Responsible for leading and delivering project work, including but not limited to:

  • Lead internal/external project teams to the development of quality deliverables with valuable and actionable insights for the client

  • Serve as a key point of contact with client, including follow-up post-project delivery to ensure client satisfaction

  • Lead meetings with clients, including key strategic / alignment meetings and regular check-ins

  • Assist with logistics and meeting planning as necessary

  • Ensure maintenance of shared drive from project team in terms of key project deliverables and administration documents

Additional duties as may be required

May maintain a staffing component as determined by departmental needs to compliment the pharmacy project management needs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D (preferred). New York State Pharmacy License and interest in hospital practice. A Level III pharmacist will typically have a minimum of 5 years of acute care pharmacy practice experience, Post Graduate-Year 1 (PGY-1) training combined with a minimum of 2 years of progressive and relevant professional experience, and/or a graduate degree in business management (or other relevant field) or a Post Graduate-Year 2 (PGY-2) residency in hospital pharmacy management combined with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
