GENERAL PURPOSE:

Gathers information, analyzes and interprets data and disseminates information. Reviews daily pharmaceutical orders. Independently manages procurement of medications via wholesaler and direct from manufacturers. Negotiates with vendors to obtain optimum service and price. Monitors and analyzes pricing and adherence to contracts. Ensures inventory supply, order processing and distribution of pharmaceuticals and supplies.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee virtual accumulations for combined accumulators in the pharmacy system. Use accumulation information to centrally order to lessen WAC exposure and distribute neutral inventory to all ambulatory pharmacy locations as needed. Track and review backorder and availability issues on a daily basis and communicate to appropriate pharmacy staff.

  2. Responsible for researching products and prices by identifying vendors, requesting technical or performance specifications and obtaining product information regarding availability and lead times. Independently oversees pharmaceutical purchases via wholesaler or direct from manufacturers. Manages daily orders in excess of $30,000 per day. Independently generates purchase orders and maintains contact with vendors related to pricing, and shipping.

  3. Manages specialty and limited access drugs, some of which are patient specific. Works with specialty pharmacies and manufacturers to determine eligibility and manages the scheduling of deliveries as needed for patient care.

  4. Runs various reports in Electronic Medical Records to track high cost, or non-formulary medications. Evaluate the need for additional orders based on current inventory.

  5. Fulfills clinic order requests. Identifies and scans appropriate products in eRecord and validates appropriate medication requests are distributed in a timely manner. Follows up on orders to confirm completion.

  6. Manages default NDC settings on hundreds of eRecord Willow Inventory Medlists using independent discretion to identify the most appropriate NDCs for purchase. Ensures appropriate NDCs are setup when distributing medications to our clinics.

  7. Identifies new eRecord build requests. Independently manages submission, follow up of eRecord tickets in collaboration with informatics team, and supply chain leadership.

  8. Confers routinely with vendors and departments to follow up on backorders, payment problems, or service issues. Collaborates with coworkers from pharmacy regarding availability of shortage products and expected availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social or technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Minimum of 12 months of Pharmacy and/or 340B experience required

  • Experience with MS Office applications is preferred, specifically Excel preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $23.06 - $32.29 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
