Responsibilities

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in conjunction with the Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester NY is seeking a senior scientist with a strong cancer-focused research program, to serve as a Vice Chair for Experimental Pathology with a leadership role in WCI. Candidates must hold an MD (or equivalent) and/or PhD. The anticipated rank is Associate Professor or Professor. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest cancer biology and/or functional cancer genomics. WCI research programs focus on cancer genetics and epigenetics, cancer metabolism and stem cells, tumor microenvironment and immunology, leukemia, lymphoma, breast, GI and GU cancers. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record of research productivity and continued cancer-focused extramural funding. She/he will have demonstrated ability for leadership and the ability to develop synergistic research programs resulting in expanded success and productivity for a large team of researchers.

The successful candidate will direct his/her own basic or translational research program and will help with the recruitment, development and expansion of a research division with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with research strengths in the areas of cancer biology, cardiovascular pathology and musculoskeletal biology. She/he also will contribute to research program development within the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
