Plans, directs and coordinates institution wide policies and activities related to information system initiatives supporting URMC, Affiliate Hospitals and ambulatory sites. Develops, directs and implements enterprise wide information systems training and application support plans and initiatives. Directs and supervises staff and resources to assure efficient and effective operations. Helps to develop an integrated optimization plan for training and support services of clinical eRecord modules within the overall plan for eRecord.

Supports Enterprise Training Director in developing training strategies.


  • Provides information systems training and support services design, analysis and area expertise required to support the implementation of enterprise wide clinical information systems and new business initiatives. Conducts feasibility studies, prepares analyses and presents recommendations to URMC, informations systems, operations and informaticists.

  • Provides direction and supervision for assigned areas of responsibility, including internal and external resources required to insure successful project completion. Allocates and assigns personnel and technical resources to meet departmental and hospital needs.

  • Formulates and prepares project plans with activities, dependencies, dates and timeframes, resource requirements, milestones and deliverables. Monitors progress of project activities and insures all critical implementation criteria are met and provides status reports to hospital, medical center and integrated delivery system steering committees. Acts as the primary contact with Operational Leadership.

  • Coordinates the processes and resources required to develop, implement and maintain Information Systems Training and Support Services projects and plans. Coordinates functions and activities related to training information systems technologies with other departments and external sources.

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in area of expertise and integrates this knowledge with the hospital’s and information system’s strategic plans. Attends training and educational activities to maintain expertise in rapidly changing environment and utilizes this information to assure effective and efficient technology decisions.

  • Coordinates Information System’s enterprise clinical training and support services activities and implements comprehensive project plans to meet the information needs and information integration strategies necessary to support the Medical Center’s initiatives.

  • Directs and guides the activities of assigned staff, including recruitment, staffing decisions, performance evaluations and other personnel actions. Directs designs, coordinates and oversees institution wide strategy for information initiative and efficient cost-effective deployment of information systems enterprise training and support of eRecord.

  • Identifies new technologies, methodologies, and applications to resolve issues and meet growing demands for information integration and technology, including distance and virtual learning, innovation in adult learning and best practice use of Learning Management Systems. Participates on departmental, hospital and medical center committees.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Teaching, Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering preferred

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • 4-5 years of related experience, preferably 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity preferred;

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent planning and organizational skills preferred.

  • Experience in a health care setting preferred.

  • Excellent customer service skills


  • 4-5yrs progressive experience in an information services or adult instructional design and training function, preferably in a health care organization.

  • Ability to understand and articulate the business and clinical information requirements of an integrated delivery system, including adult education and training activities. The technical and administrative competency in information systems required providing the leadership in designing and implementing information systems to support an enterprise training and application services program

  • Ability to manage sizeable projects within resource constraints, articulate goals and timeframes and to proactively monitor and coordinate others to achieve targets.

  • Experience with timely and on-budget project completion, particularly projects involving implementation of new systems with pre-existing systems.

  • Supervisory experience and ability to motivate and direct multiple staff on an ongoing basis.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to extract and convey necessary information from non-technical personnel.

  • Ability to develop and facilitate consensus among many groups with diverse agendas.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  • Epic experience and certification, Adult Education Theory and Instructional Design, and Epic Training Wheels and program experience or obtained within the first year of hire.
