Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Project Manager position will represent the Safety-Net and Program Support Office (SNPs Office) and other assigned projects across the UR Medicine enterprise and its partners, providing project management to internal project teams. The Safety-Net Office is located within the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. The goal of the Safety-Net Office is to improve the health of UR Medicine’s vulnerable patient population by supporting the development of an integrated, multi-institutional approach through collaborative, coordinated care models across longitudinal patient care pathways.

Reporting to the Lead Program Manager, this role requires a developed understanding of clinical and administrative processes, an ability to manage multi-faceted projects across a variety of settings, departments, and programs, experience with program development and implementation, and building consensus across multiple stakeholders in an academic medical center setting. This position also requires analytical abilities to support identification, implementation and ongoing evaluation of programmatic areas of opportunity. The Project Manager oversees project teams and works with them to develop and execute program initiatives based upon identified and emerging needs. The Project Manager is also responsible for producing reports and presentations for various audiences at the team level, URMC executive level and to multiple external stakeholders. Specifically, this role will build and maintain interdepartmental relationships and work collaboratively to plan and execute institution-wide policies and activities related to URMC’s work with the Rochester RHIO and URMC Regional Business Development’s Rural Health Network Grant Initiatives. The project manager will provide direction and motivation to faculty and staff in setting and achieving project milestones within tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Under general direction and with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative:

RHIO Project Management

  • Serves at the URMC Point Person and organizes the work related to URMC’s project with Rochester RHIO.

  • Tracks the development, implementation, and evaluation of designated projects related to the URMC and Rochester RHIO work.

  • Formulates and prepares project plans with activities, dependencies, timeframes, resource requirements, milestones and deliverables related to the myResults delivery with URM Primary Care and Rochester RHIO.

  • Monitors progress of project activities, insures all critical implementation criteria are met and provides status reports to Program leadership and fellow team members.

  • Develops and manages a clear and effective communication plan from both the URMC/RHIO Operation Status Meetings and RHIO Workgroup Meetings.

  • Assists with tracking of invoices, payments and MOUs for all projects related to URMC’s work with the Rochester RHIO

Finger Lakes Rural Health Project Management

  • Manages multidisciplinary project teams comprised of clinicians, administrators and operational support staff working collaboratively with the Finger Lakes Rural Health Network.

  • Oversees and advises the development, implementation, and evaluation of designated projects related to the Finger Lakes Rural Health Network initiatives.

  • Formulates and prepares project plans with activities, dependencies, timeframes, resource requirements, milestones and deliverables related to the chronic disease screening, website development, community service plans and other pilot programs.

  • Monitors progress of project activities, insures all critical implementation criteria are met and provides status reports to Program leadership and fellow team members.

  • Develops and manages a clear and effective communication and work plan under the direction of the Finger Lakes Rural Health Network Board. Manages and reports on the budget and grant applications for the Finger Lakes Rural Health Network.

  • Travel to the Southern-Tier network monthly as needed.

Analysis and Evaluation

Continually analyzes and interprets program information, identifying key drivers and underlying issues, performs appropriate in-depth queries and summarizes and presents findings and opportunities to achieve specified project goals. Prepares reports and presentations backed by data, financial analyses and evidence-based methods when applicable. Work requires both independent and team-based design and completion of analyses. Quantifies patient & financial impact to the health system pertaining to the project’s evaluation of financial, utilization and clinical objectives.

Communication

Develops and executes a project communication plan ensuring clear and effective communication to and across project teams. Informs larger communication plan to engage secondary health system stakeholders and the enterprise as a whole. Maintains continuous feedback loop between projects and Program Office. Troubleshoots breakdowns in communication in a timely manner as issues arise.

Relationship Building

Externally, serves as a liaison between UR team members, multiple UR stakeholders across departments, Rochester RHIO, Finger Lakes Performing Provider System, and multiple community partners in the planning and implementation of assigned projects and provides resolution in the case of operational issues/problems. Internally, values contributions of team members and works to uphold a team culture that is supportive and celebrates each other’s accomplishments.

Stays abreast of industry trends and maintains knowledge of professional practice changes through participation in professional organizations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience including at least 2 years at a managerial level; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree, equivalent course work, or specialized experience in an appropriate field related to the assignment is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in Business, Public Health, or Health Administration preferred. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential. Exhibits proficiency and ability to learn new software skills within a Windows-based environment (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and SharePoint). Proficiency in data analytics, electronic records and business development. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven team member and ability to build stakeholder consensus in a complex environment. Must possess exceptional judgment and ability to learn the needs of different components of the UR Medicine Enterprise, the Rochester RHIO and Finger Lakes Rural Health Network. Work independently with minimal guidance. Demonstrates efficiency in prioritizing assignments, proactively resolving problems and recommending and implementing continuous quality improvement activities. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask required. Demonstrates accurate, grammatically correct documentation in all correspondence.
