The Imaging Quality Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and improving efficiencies and services in the Department of Imaging. This role combines the clinical acumen required to change practice with the leadership skills to influence clinical processes, systems, and outcomes. This individual will examine effective models of imaging acquisition for opportunities for optimization and to decrease waste within the system. The project manager identifies opportunities for improvements based on evidence based practices, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, and data analysis of high risk, high volume and/or problem prone processes. The project manager assists the Imaging Quality Administrator and the Imaging Vice Chair of Quality and Safety to develop, grow, and sustain a quality program centered on patient safety, just culture, and continuous quality improvement.


  • Partners with Quality Administrator in the development and execution of department-based quality and safety initiatives, continuous quality improvement, and compliance. Supports technical committees including CT dose optimization, MRI Safety and Contrast Committee.

  • Identifies and analyzes data to determine departmental trends and performance opportunities. This includes the event reporting of actual and near-miss events, and American College of Radiology (ACR) registries.

  • As a member of the Imaging Quality team, assumes various responsibilities as needed to further the quality goals of the department, including project prioritization, patient safety initiatives, education, reporting, compliance, auditing, data analysis, and other responsibilities as needs arise.

  • Facilitates small to medium scale department quality improvement initiatives. Designs and prepares presentation reports that provide summarized data trends and progress toward achieving project goals.

  • Drives sustained, measurable improvements while supervising process improvement projects.

  • Serves as backup to Quality Administrator as needed. This may include conducting investigations and resolution of patient complaints/events, interface with hospital Quality Office and Patient and Family Relations, participate in RCA and other investigations.

  • Maintains a current and working knowledge of image acquisition process and workflows for all modalities.


    Bachelor's degree required. 5 years of relevant experience required, 2 years at a managerial level and Imaging/Radiology experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Lean Practitioner within 6 months of hire date required. Current New York state Radiologic Technologist (RT) license required.
