The Flaum Eye Institute, University of Rochester is seeking a Research Assistant Professor whose primary work will be to assist in the running of human-based visual performance research in the laboratory of Dr. Krystel Huxlin. The Huxlin lab focuses on studying the properties of and neural circuits subtending residual visual functions in humans with vision loss resulting from cortical damage. This research also encompasses the development of new strategies to rehabilitate vision after such damage.
Candidates must have a PhD, at least 5 years of experience working in vision science. They must be eligible to work in the U.S. Experience with programming in Matlab, the use of Psychtoolbox and the integration of eye tracking with psychophysical testing are essential. Ability to program in Unity or Python are desirable. The candidate should be able to design experiments and program relevant paradigms for testing and training of human subjects, as well as to quantitatively analyze data output from such experiments. They should also be a good communicator, able to write publication-quality manuscripts, present their work orally as well as in poster format at conferences. Finally, while devoting most of their effort towards ongoing projects in the lab, the candidate is also expected to work towards an independent line of research, develop their grantsmanship up to an including successfully applying for grants while in this position.

Ability to work productively with a range of individuals from diverse backgrounds and at differing career levels is a must.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials. A post offer health assessment is required.
