Position Summary:
With general direction and latitude for initiative and judgement, performs routine and non-routine duties requiring advanced secretarial or word processing skills and proficiency for the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology. Duties to include telephone triage, financial counseling, benefit verification, general office duties, and provide coverage to maintain office operations during staff absences.
Responsibilities:
Obtain treatment/cycle authorizations for medications and procedures as required by insurance
Verification of insurance benefits
Track authorization dates and resubmit expiring authorizations to insurance
Communicate and interpret insurance benefits to patient/staff as needed
Collect patient copayments and prepayments as required via telephone prior to appointment
Counsel IVF patients on treatment costs
Create self-pay bundles in e-records for IVF patients
Coordinate NYS grant paperwork and patient communication regarding wait list and approvals
Attend weekly IVF meeting, QA meeting, Egg Donor Meeting
Assist in coordination/agenda of weekly IVF meeting
Work multiple work queues on a daily basis and maintain appropriate levels of messages in eRecord baskets. Assist teammates with coverage of in-baskets during vacations and absences. Respond to urgent requests within assigned work queues in a timely matter
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Associates degree preferred
2 years secretarial experience required
Medical insurance knowledge & understanding preferred
Prior authorization experience preferred
