Collect essential information from various sources for Workers’ Compensation claim processing and submission
File all paperwork into charts after each visit
Entering claims into the CARISK web-based software
Contact and follow up with carriers for claim verification
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NETWORK INFORMATION SYSTEM (OHNIS):
Compile data for each patient visit for daily data entry of information into the New York State Department Of Health internet database (OHNIS)
Reconcile information in OHNIS and Specialist on a bi-weekly basis
BILLING / INVOICING:
Generate Specialist report to prepare invoices for vendors and patient mailings
Assist Billing Specialist with outstanding invoices and collections
Act as back-up coverage support for the Billing Specialist as needed
Assist the front office with answering phones, patient intake and checkout, scheduling, referrals, rooming patients, and the completion of patient and other formsProcess patient intake information required for all new patients which includes creating new charts as well as filing charts Use expertise in decision making to distribute medical records and other necessary information according to HIPAA guidelines. This includes copying patient records and mailing or faxing them and filing copies in charts
Supervise and monitor transcription service via internet database (PBOMD)
Prepare medical reports and letters for distribution from Providers to appropriate recipients
Other duties as assigned.
2 years of post high school education in secretarial studies or the equivalent. At least 2 years of secretarial and office experience, including 1 year in a position which demonstrated the ability to work with minimum supervision, provide customer service both in person and on the phone, and to direct an office operation.
Advanced secretarial skills, including Microsoft Office applications and databases and accurate filing and data entry.
Or a combination of formal training and experience equivalent to the above.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and data integrity.
Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills both verbal and written.
Strong organization skills, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
