Responsibilities

Assembles instrument pans using visual data base. Sterilizes all surgical sets, procedural kits, med-surg supplies and specialty items for Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Care Facilities, Hospital Units and Research Clinics. Operates sterilizer and all processing equipment. Performs technical and mechanical work in the inspection, decontamination, and servicing of instruments and equipment. Ensures instruments are operating properly prior to issuing. Receives, stores, inventories and issues supplies and instruments from distribution area according to established procedure. Ensures supplies and instruments are on each surgical case cart according to computer protocols. Obtains and delivers individual supplies and instruments to OR suites. Some quality control and supervisory responsibilities. Requires: Minimum one year post high school education and one year experience as a technician in an Operating Room and/or Materials Processing Department. Certification, medical terminology, and computer experience preferred.
