Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE: Leadership position for the Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics. This position provides strategic direction, financial oversight and managerial support for several core missions within the Division including Research, Education/Training, and Community. Additionally, this position will work in partnership with the General Pediatric Clinical Administrative Team to ensure consistency in communication, financial integration and strategic direction. The Division/Pediatrics Practice has approximately 100 faculty, fellows, staff and students. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategist, consultant and implementer: Ensures all streamlined activities within the division are in keeping with the Division Chief’s priorities. Acts as an advisor to Division Chief of General Pediatrics on financial and program matters across all core missions (Research, Education/Training, Community and Clinical).

  • Directs analysis of financial activity in order to identify process improvements and other cost saving measures, as well as opportunities for new revenue streams. Prepares SMD and URMFG operating budgets, and in coordination with Ambulatory Practice Administrator, preps the Golisano Children’s Hospital Pediatric Practice (GCHPP) and REACH clinic operating accounts.

  • Develops business plans for incremental resources and program expansions. Reports on the Division’s overall financial position and relates financial performance to non-financial metrics including staffing levels, RVUs, faculty compensation plan, etc.

  • Provides oversight and management of all division-sponsored program activities and compliance reporting. Provide guidance and assistance in proposal development and pre-award activities. Supervise and direct day-to-day activities research administration staff. Maintains liaison with Offices of Dean, ORPA, ORACS, accounting and purchasing.

  • Defines the Division administrative structure and work processes in order to achieve mission-specific performance metrics to meet URMFG standards, revenue cycle management, Chair initiatives and performance metrics. In conjunction with Division Chief, set Division goals and long term work plan development and implementation.

  • Coordinates the execution of new strategic initiatives. Represents the Division Chief’s office as needed with key internal constituencies and occasionally external constituencies. Drives the flow of information across the division and translates into team and organizational priorities. Interfaces with Department Executive Leadership Team members on operational work streams and strategy.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in practice administration, including at least 2 at a managerial level, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, such Business or Health Administration.
