Works closely with other team members on the University of Rochester Medical Center ISD ServiceNow platform team to assist with the design and development of the ServiceNow platform supporting the institution’s Strategic Plan and missions of education, research, and patient care. This position is responsible for the implementation, administration, development and support of Service Now and is part of a team of developer/administrators working under the guidance of the Project Director and Technical Lead.


  • Administers, installs, tests and maintains support for the ServiceNow platform.

  • Develops, documents, and creates automated testing for client, stakeholder, and project requests and initiatives.

  • Independently configures, customizes and codes development adhering to established guiding principles and best practices, as defined by the technical lead and service now success pillars.

  • Establishes development requirements and timelines that meet the client’s objectives.

  • Interacts with clients and internal team members daily through meetings, email and follow up communications to assess needs. This includes business analysis and requirements definition as well as team planning and pure development review.

  • Applies knowledge of industry trends and innovations to improve service to clients.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required;

  • Master’ Degree preferred.

  • 3-4 years of related experience required;

  • 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity preferred;

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases and data models preferred

  • Working knowledge of at least one structured programming language preferred

  • Experience with web technologies, including: JavaScript, jQuery, and HTML preferred

  • Experience with web services, including: REST, SOAP, JSON or XML preferred

  • Enthusiasm for learning new systems and business processes

  • Experience with Microsoft ASP.NET, MVC, SQL preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills preferred

  • Service Now certification preferred
