Full Time 40 hours Grade 053 Psychiatry SMH Strong Ties
The social worker assigned to the Strong Ties Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team functions as a MICA Specialist and to individuals ages 18 and older who are severely and persistently mentally ill. The social worker is an integral member of the ACT Team, providing comprehensive mental health and dual diagnosis services for individuals who have serious and persistent mental illness and have not connected with traditional mental health outpatient clinics. The ACT MICA Specialist works with clients to develop client-driven goals and creative ways to help clients meet these goals. Services are provided in settings where clients are most comfortable. The MICA specialist receives specialized training from the New York State Office of Mental Health in using the Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment (IDDT) approach in conjunction with the harm reduction model. He/she also provides cross training to other team members. As a team member the social worker is expected to function in a trans-disciplinary role.
The social worker who occupies this position must have a MSW from an accredited social work graduate program and a New York State social work license as well as 3 years post-MSW experience. LCSW preferred.
